I have always said that if I could only do one sport for the rest of my life, it would be bike packing. The joy and freedom of moving through wild landscapes with just two wheels, stopping when you’re tired, eating when you’re hungry…it’s bliss and so naturally, I feel the need to share this with others. I have a fair amount of personal bike packing experience and have completed a number of multi-day trips including 5 weeks cycling around the Outer Hebrides, Skye and NW Scotland and 2 weeks biking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal
Whilst this is a relatively new branch to my guiding repertoire, it is one I am keen to gain more experience in.
Previous trips were notably a 10 day bike packing trip with 6 women, traversing the Hebridean Way. We were totally self supported, wild camping en route and the emphasis was on getting the women to take charge and make day to day decisions with me being there as a support. As with most of my trips, I try to encourage the women to upskill and gain confidence so they can be more independent
