Snowdonia: A Year On The Farm - BBC Wales - Producer

During the course of 2020, I spent a year filming a 6 -part observational series about life as a hill farmer living in Snowdonia. We followed the lives of 5 families as they tried to juggle family life, a rapidly changing future post Brexit and COVID. As the producer, I worked closely with a self shooting director to build and nurture trusting relationships with the families, identify and develop emerging storylines, conduct interviews and manage scheduling. The COVID-19 situation meant sequences were ever changing and we had to think on our feet to replace them and work around difficult regulations and restrictions.

Some of the key responsibilities I had were

  • Casting

  • Developing key relationships with contributors

  • Regular communications with the families to discuss upcoming events, key filming moments and piece together a complex schedule that would change daily

  • Editorial development and story arc construction across the series

  • Structuring editorial for the central interviews
